Maili is a seasoned attorney with a robust focus on municipal and intellectual property law. Previously as a City Attorney for multiple cities she managed a diverse portfolio of legal responsibilities, including the drafting and revision of technical vendor contracts, SAAS agreements, and advising on code enforcement and public records issues. She also serves as a subject matter expert in police advising and animal hearings.

 

Her tenure as a City Attorney involved representing multiple cities' legal departments in various courts and administrative hearings, crafting essential legal processes and municipal codes, and drafting documents that set standards later adopted by other municipalities. Her resume highlights her capabilities in developing effective legal frameworks and handling complex civil and criminal litigation.

 

In addition to her municipal law practice, Maili actively engages in intellectual property law, particularly focused on contractual agreements in technology (including implementation of AI) and data sharing. Her involvement in registering trademarks, drafting artist licensing agreements, publicity waivers, and negotiating multiple cloud services agreements underscores her competence in this field.

 

During her four years at the University of Washington, Maili was a varsity letter athlete on the Women's Rowing team, earning two conference titles and one NCAA Division I national title. In her senior year, she proudly served on the Student Athlete Advisory Council. While pursuing her JD, she was actively involved in Moot Court and the Latino/a Organization for Legal Advancement. She also held the position of President of the Asian Pacific Islander Law Student Association. As a law student, she externed at the King County Prosecutor's Office and gained valuable experience as a summer associate at the corporate office of T-Mobile, USA.
